Rahat Rahman is a Bangladeshi-born film and TV commercial director and editor. He started his career at the age of twelve as a TV news reporter for Mukta Khabor— a news program made for, by and about children— which was produced by UNICEF and Save the Children and aired on Ekushey Television. Here, he developed a great interest in the technicalities of video production and especially editing. He later started working as assistant director in various film production companies and directed his first TV commercial in 2012 from Runout Films. In 2013 he founded his own company ‘Film Logic’ and have been directing all his subsequent films in Bangladesh from there.

He made his first narrative film ‘Monkey Bizness’ — a feature-length romantic comedy— in 2015. In 2016, after completing his comedy series ‘Team Possible’, he was selected to be a director fellow at Asian Film Academy in Busan, South Korea which would later inspire him to pursue academic education in film making. His next film "Sincerely Yours, Dhaka"— an anthology film about Dhaka City which he made in collaboration with ten other Bangladeshi directors— would also have its world premiere at Busan International Film Festival in 2018. The film was Bangladesh’s official submission for the 92nd Academy Awards; and is currently streaming on Netflix.

In 2019, Rahat moved to Canada to join Confederation College in Thunder Bay and in 2021 graduated from the college with a Diploma in Film Production. He then moved to Toronto and joined Pureblink Studio as a Content Producer. There, he got hands-on experience working with virtual production technology using unreal engine. In 2022 he joined The Weather Network as a special project editor and youtube channel curator.

His third film made in Canada, ‘Madness of Madeline’— which he wrote, directed, edited and was the cinematographer of— got nominated for Canadian Society of Cinematographers (CSC) Awards 2022.

Besides his professional film making career, he also runs his own Youtube channel with 300,000+ subscribers where he makes comedy contents based on movies, video games and tech products.

He is currently living in Toronto, Canada.
